World History (9): Mr. Brown

World Cultures studies world history from a cultural viewpoint, incorporating world religions, world music, and world geography into the classroom. This class will visit ancient areas of the world, such as Egypt and Greece, to explain how their ancient culture evolved into the culture they have today.

American History (10): Mr. Brown and Mrs. Suther

An overview of our country from the times of the explorers through colonization, the American Revolution, and right on up to the 1960's.

American History 2 (11-12): Mr. Brown and Mrs. Suther

An in depth view of American History starting in 1950 and ending in the present. It emphasizes the Korean War, JFK assassination, Vietnam War, Watergate, and many other late 20th century topics.

American Government (11): Mrs. Scoby

This class is a study of the American political system. The U.S. system is compared with others around the world, then studied in detail. Topics include heritage of the U.S. system of government, the Constitution, civil rights, politics, congress and the Presidency.

Current Events (11-12): Mr. Brown and Mrs. Scoby

This class is a study of current events and the background behind those events. The history and geography of areas involved in current events are studied.

Psychology (12): Mrs. Scoby

This course focuses of the study of human behavior. Psychology studies the whys and how's of the way we are. Major areas include parapsychology, learning, personality, development, and abnormal psychology. Psychology is offered for a semester only. College credit is available.

Sociology (12): Mrs. Scoby

Sociology is offered for a semester only. It emphasizes the study of people and their interaction in a diverse society. Major areas include deviance, social stratification, group behavior, gender roles, and crime and justice. College credit is available.

We The People (12): Mrs. Scoby

Prerequisite: American Government

This class will prepare students for the competition at the state We The People finals held during second semester. Students will research, write and speak about the US Constitution, its principles and practices.
